CROSSING OVER

Crossing Over is a two day festival, taking place in the Vardø spring, and allows a deep dive into topics of interest and local relevance. It is interdisciplinary and intergenerational in nature, with a “hop on hop off” program migrating through Vardø. The day comprises of films, live performances, eating together, conversations and live music. Previous themes include Cinematic Ritual, Suomi Soundings and Fish Tales, exploring Sami culture, queer identity, Finnish roots and fishery politics. The content is co developed with both individuals and groups within the local community, and always tries to catch the pulse of the time. The festival builds a bridge between past and upcoming Crossings festivals, and also allows us the space to give more attention to specific films, artists or themes.
