VISUAL MEANDERINGS

Visual Meanderings (under development) is a Norwegian-Finnish collaboration led by Komafest to build new and sustainable relations in the Barents region. The project involves the co-production of six site-specific audiovisual works by artists Elisabeth Thorsen (NO) and Elisa Alaluusua (FI) in Vardø, premiering an exploratory urban exhibition during Crossings 2026 in Vardø. This is then intended to evolve to a gallery based installation in Kirkenes and Finnish Lapland. The project also focuses on competence sharing, long-term networking and exploration, while building a connection between the Vardø-Kemijärvi sister cities, using art as a tool for cultural connectivity.
