VISUAL MEANDERINGS

Visual Meanderings (under development) is a Norwegian-Finnish collaboration led by Komafest to build new and sustainable relations in the Barents region. The project involves the co-production of six site-specific audiovisual works by artists Elisabeth Thorsen and Elisa Alaluusua in Vardø, premiering an exploratory urban exhibition during Crossings 2026 in Vardø. This will then evolve to a gallery based installation in Kirkenes and Finnish Lapland. The project also focuses on competence sharing, long-term networking, and explosion and reactivation of the Vardø-Kemijärvi sister city connection, using art as a tool for cultural connectivity.
