CROSSINGS

Crossings is a four-day annual film festival during the Vardø (NO) autumn, celebrating diverse films in unexpected spaces, from fishing sheds and cabins to unused buildings and outdoor walls. It’s run with volunteers and built from donated films and local spaces. With food as a central tool, we try to bring together people of different ages and backgrounds. The festival’s ethos is simple: Use what’s at hand and utilise it differently while creating new crossovers. Under the banner “films & more”, we fill the program with round table talks, workshops, performances and then some. Crossings collaborates with the community and a wide range of local actors to inspire connection and creativity, while our satellite program brings the festival to wider audiences. We want to give everyone who wishes a space in this festival to co create and evolve, and build this festival from the ground up. Crossings acts as an arena to introduce filmmakers and artist some of the amazing resources Varanger has to offer to creatives.
